With the kids home for the summer, we have plenty of time to experiment and create.
So the other morning after the kids did their chores, we made some bouncy balls. I pretty much followed the recipe found HERE.
It was pretty easy and the kids loved helping to make it.
1. First we combined the water and borax in one bowl, and the glue, food coloring and cornstarch in another.
2. Then we combined the two bowls.
3. We rolled the mixture into a ball shape.
4. And bounced away.
( FYI: We doubled the recipe to make they yellow bouncy ball but the size of the ball didn't double.)
I even made this little video to show you that they actually work. They aren't hard like super balls, they are softer and don't bounce as high. The kids also loved just rolling them around in their hands which makes for a great sensory toy as well.
Also, it was pretty much a one time use toy. After they set the balls down they flattened and were hard to form into a ball shape again. Plus some of the kids tore the balls apart and that made it next to impossible to roll back into a ball. At least it was fun while it lasted.
